Fantastic Day in the City Centre

I spent the day in the centre of Leicester (and no, I didn't misspell that word... it's the English spelling... and I suppose since they invented the language, the least I could do is join 'em in their kookiness while I'm here).  Today has been the best day I've had since I've been here.  It was extraordinary.  I needed a bit of a relaxing day because this week has been hectic and stressful in many different ways.  I wanted to do nothing but window shop, grab some lunch and have a pint.  I got a bit of a late start though because my Texas pals, Mayra and Spencer, came with me and they were still in recovery from last night (every Friday there is a party on campus called 'Shabang'.  I would have loved to go out, but I instead stayed in and coughed up roughly 63% of my lung tissue.  That's alright though because I got pretty wasted on my cough syrup and passed out before I knew what I was missing.).  Leicester is more beautiful than I could ever have even ventured to imagine!  Breathtaking architecture everywhere I looked: chuches, cathedrals, clock towers, archways... hell, even the pubs were gorgeous!

After wandering around for a while and looking like completely obvious tourists, we realized how hungry we were... and thus began the fish and chips hunt.  Unfortunately the place we chose had no fish today (YOU'RE AN ISLAND, ENGLAND!), but the place was so beautiful and cozy that we just had to stay, failure to procure cliched English food forgotten!

So instead I had a cheese and chutney sandwich (delicious!), a cup of Americano coffee (weak excuse for coffee, more like flavored water... but I guess that's what I get for not ordering tea), and a pint of dark lager (because it was a pub.  I mean come on, how am I gonna turn that down?)... Hahaha!  Yes, be jealous of me!  We were happy people!

High-brow disdainers, fear not.  For I also took a picture for all my immature and ridiculous friends back home.  BluntsShoes is a local shoe shop that had some misfortune with their sign.

Yes.  Wonderful, educated, and cultured Heather was standing in the city centre taking a photo of a sign that reads "Blunts and Hoes".  It's all for you, loved ones back home!  So if you're running low on either of these things, I'm told they have a great selection here.
